A running tour is a guided tour of Atlanta for the active person/group. Your amazingly knowledgeable tour guide will point out a plethora of Atlanta facts and history while running through the beautiful city. It's a great activity for those visiting Atlanta or those who live in the area but want to learn more about their home town.
Kristy Duckworth has been a runner for 13 years. Although she took a hiatus from
the sport in college (GO DAWGS!), she quickly returned to her running roots and
decided to sign up for a local half marathon. Since then, she's completed 10 marathons
and 10 half marathons.
A resident of Midtown Atlanta, you can frequently find her pounding the pavement
all over the city. In 2011, she decided to merge her two biggest loves (running
& Atlanta) and create Atlanta Running Tours.
What pace do we run?
Your pace! You set the pace and decide if/when/how often we stop to walk. It's up
to you!
What if I need to use the restroom?
Let your guide know and they'll find a restroom for you along the course. There
are also public restrooms and water fountains in Centennial Olympic Park.
I forgot my running gear! Where can I pick some up?
No worries! Check out Big Peach Running Co. for all of your running needs (shoes,
apparel, gels, water bottles, etc.).
What if the weather's bad?
We are willing to run in whatever kind of weather you are. A little rain never hurt
anyone! However, in the case of strong or dangerous storms, we will be glad to reschedule
your tour for another time or day.
Atlanta Running Tours this morning was so fun with you! Thanks for the tour & goodies!
Carol – Atlanta, GA
I've done 2 runs with ATL Running Tours and both were exceptional! Each was much
more informative than I anticipated, due to Kristy being a fountain of knowledge
regarding Atlanta, in both current happenings and historical facts. I would HIGHLY
recommend booking a trip with this company, no matter what level of runner you happen
to be!
Mark Ward – Cedartown, GA
Thanks again for the tour this morning! i had a great time and can't wait to wear
my shirt!
Traci Rose – California
Learned a lot about Atlanta running with Kristy. Atlanta Running Tours is not just
for out of town tourists!
Lindsday – Atlanta, GA
I enjoyed running through the ATL with someone who could provide a little color
commentary and show me parts of town I might never have gotten to. Not sure when
I'm back downtown, but when I am I'll give you a call.
Pat – Fairfield, Connecticut
I took a 3 mile running tour with Kristy on a 4 day trip to Atlanta, and it was
the highlight of my trip. Kristy is so friendly and welcomed me to the city. She
was so knowledgeable about the beautiful Atlanta downtown. Even though I've lived
in Atlanta previously, Kristy taught me so much about the historical buildings and
sites. I can't wait to go on the 6 mile tour the next time I visit.
Aaron – Kirkland, Washington
Kristy was ridiculously nice and knew so much about Atlanta! My only regret is that
we should have signed up to run with her on the day we arrived instead of the day
that we were flying out of town, because she told us about so many fun things to
do in Atlanta. I will definitely be back to sight see after finding out all about
this cool city!
Salina – Marion, IA
The Atlanta Running Tour is absolutely awesome. I had an excellent run this morning,
and I learned so much about the history of atlanta while taking the tour. Kristy
is so nice and patient as I had to walk a bit on the tour. I would definitely recommend
the tour for anyone living in and/or visiting Atlanta. I plan to go again when I
have friends in town. Again, I highly recommend the running tour.
Tiffany – Atlanta, GA
I am a former resident of Georgia and I was amazed on how much I learned. You run
by landmarks and places that you never knew existed. In addition, I was pleased
to get in my morning workout while having fun at the same time! I particularly enjoyed
running through Centennial Olympic Park. The route was very well designed and I
enjoyed every minute of it. When visiting Atlanta, consider this a MUST DO!!
Brett – St. Petersburg, FL
She has the Southern Charm since she is a native Georgian and is very knowledgeable
about Atlanta. Both my husband and I grew up in Metro Atlanta and as young children
visited Atlanta frequently. But we have never enjoyed learning so much about the
history of Atlanta and the beautiful walk around it as we did with Kristy. We give
Kristy and her company 5 stars out of 5 stars for her enthusiasm, knowledge, and
hospitality as Atlanta was once known for.
Rae – Jonesboro, GA
We did a 6 mile tour with Kristy through Atlanta. She is enthusiastic, knowledgeable
and very personable. She has a great knowledge of the local history and had no troubles
integrating that along the run. It's definitely a great way to get familiar with
Atlanta, particularly if it's your first time visiting the city.
Jason – Vancouver, British Columbia
11Alive News Atlanta's Julie Wolfe
Julie took in the Atlanta sights, including Woodruff Park, Underground Atlanta,
the Georgia Dome, and Phillips Arena.
